The Whirlwind

November 21, 2008

I saw this photo in the latest edition of National Geographic, and then subsequently found more info on it online – here.

It’s actually a volcano erupting in Chile but it made me think of the pillar of cloud or whirlwind in Ezekiel (see Ezekiel 1).

Ezekiel 1:4Then I looked, and behold, a whirlwind was coming out of the north, a great cloud with raging fire engulfing itself; and brightness was all around it and radiating out of its midst like the color of amber, out of the midst of the fire.

That’s just awesome in the true sense of the word!I’ve always wondered how those crazy Israelites who followed the pillar of cloud and the pillar of fire could forget their God as often as they did. You’d think if we saw something like that leading us around we’d have the sense to remember…Then I think about how I’m surrounded by Him now and still forget. *sigh*
